Woof vs Wolf: Why we need to STOP comparing dogs to wolves!
Current research suggests that dogs decended from a wolf-like ancestor (NOT the modern wolf as we know it) as far back as 34,000 years ago. For scale, this would mean that dogs have been a staple of human society long before agriculture, and even before the end of the last ice age.
Dogs are so different from wolves that using wolf packs (of which little is known anyhow) to describe dog behavior is unwise. It would be similar to watching a group of chimps in order to predict how humans interact. Though we share common DNA, the differences are vast! CLICK HERE for more info.
